Celebrating tenor Jon Vickers!

PLEASE DONATE NOW!

You are among a number of people who have significant memories of the great tenor Jon Vickers. You may have read the biography "Jon Vickers: A Hero's Life" (1999/2007). Now, an exhibit is planned to celebrate his career. I am hoping you will help support this project by becoming an exhibit sponsor.

The current plan is to mount The Jon Vickers Exhibit in early 2013. A major Toronto arts institution is in agreement to present it, once fundraising is assured.

The Jon Vickers Exhibit would display some of the wonderful photos, letters and other important documents I gathered over 10 years while writing Jon's biography. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have memorabilia or other items of interest that might be loaned to the exhibit.

I have been working with an outstanding Toronto designer who has created installations for many cultural institutions.

While these plans are moving ahead, I realize that mounting the exhibit will entail

costs for exhibit design and construction (including audio/video components), shipping, promotion, and possible

showings of Richard Bocking's CBC documentary on Jon, to name some but not all budget items. The exhibit would be designed to travel to other cities in Canada and the U.S.

I am seeking to raise at least $35,000.

I am hoping that some of you who worked with Jon, knew him, or simply admired him would be interested in sponsoring this event by contributing. All sponsors (except those wishing to remain anonymous) will be acknowledged in the exhibit and in the promotional materials developed for it. Perhaps you have friends who would like to do support the exhibit as well. If so, I would very much appreciate your referring them to me or to this Website.

Levels of sponsorship are $100, $250, $500, $1,000 and $5,000.

The Jon Vickers Exhibit is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization (www.fracturedatlas.org). Contributions for the purposes of The Jon Vickers Exhibit must be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

One way for Americans to donate is to contribute checks payable to FRACTURED ATLAS, with The Jon Vickers Exhibit in the memo line on your check, sent to me at address below. A method also will be set up for Canadian donors.

If you could help, please let me know. I would be happy to provide additional details.

Thank you so much for considering this proposal.

  Sincerely,

  Jeannie Williams
